THE 2018 CHINA TRAVERSE

An epic bicycle journey in aid of World Bicycle Relief

Three months. A bicycle. One very large landmass.

On October 5th 2018 I began riding my bicycle across the landmass of China, joining the girls of thelongwayhome.nz in Kashgar, the closest I could get to the western border of China. For the past three months I have been faithfully pedalling my bicycle across this huge landmass, racing the arrival of winter, and all in an attempt to raise $14,000AUD for World Bicycle Relief. On December 28th, after one epic challenging adventure, I reached the shores of the South China Sea.

I ride for World Bicycle Relief because I have seen and experienced first hand just how powerful access to two wheels can be. Please click on the link below to help me reach my fundraising target.

THE GOAL

My goal is to raise $AUD14,000 for World Bicycle Relief through this journey - around $3 per kilometre of The 2018 China Traverse. World Bicycle Relief mobilizes people through The Power of Bicycles. And for $AUD195, they can provide a bike to help someone conquer the challenge of distance, achieve independence and thrive.

THE ROUTE

I made this one during the planning phase, but it turns out that this is pretty close to the route we actually took. Except we couldn't ride on toll roads, which means we did a lot more climbing, weaving, winding and accidental sightseeing.

THE CAUSE

For many people in rural regions of developing countries, poverty is a daily reality. In areas where walking is the only mode of transport, a Buffalo Bicycle offers the real and immediate benefit of reliable access to essential goods and services. Powered by the remarkable human spirit, bicycles are a catalyst to possibilities.
